Union minister J.M. Scindia on visit to North Tripura, lays stress on development of Agar industry in the state

The union minister for Doner and communication Jyotiraditya Scindia who is on a tour of north district today has laid stress on development of the Agar-based industry in the state through joint initiative of the state and central government. There was a great enthusiasm among local people in Kadamtala area of Dharma Nagar subdivision where he interacted with Agar producers and sellers of the area and expressed his views on the cultivation, processing, marketing and future of the Agar industry in the state. He also announced a detailed road map as part of which the state and centre can work together to ensure further progress and development of the Agar industry in the state . The gathering of Agar producers and workers and people associated with the industry took part enthusiastically in a question and answer session with the minister.
This was followed by the laying of foundation stone of the upcoming common Agar processing unit in the area that will be built at a cost of Rs 80 crores at Bargole. There was a celebratory ambience among people present in this programme also . “The government of Tripura and Centre are working together to realise Tripura’s dream around production , processing and marketing of the Agar in national and international market ; our aim in centre is to help the state government realise its dream of showcasing its Agar based products in the international market; we are working together and this dream will reach the stage of reality soon” said the minister to thunderous applause. He said that the Agar product can change the economic fate and realities of Tripura and this wilil be possible soon” said J.M Scindia .
This programme was attended also by ministers Tinku Roy, Santana Chakma, forest minister Animesh Debbarma, DM (north) Chandni Chandran, SP (north) Abinash Rai, senior officials of the forest and other departments of the government in north Tripura. There was loud applause from the people in the Kadamtala area all through the programme.
