A violent clash reportedly over the sharing of government contract works and commission escalated into open conflict between two groups of the ruling party in Kailashahar today afternoon, leaving several people injured, including Kailashahar BJP Mandal President Pritam Ghosh, who was seriously hurt. The incident triggered panic across the town during the ongoing Saraswati Puja festivities, turning the festive atmosphere tense and volatile.

According to reports, the clash took place near Shemhari Sharma Sarani in Kailashahar, where supporters of two rival BJP factions confronted each other. Both sides allegedly engaged in stone-pelting, and several local residents claimed that members of both groups were carrying firearms. As the situation rapidly deteriorated and threatened to spiral out of control, the police were forced to intervene decisively.

To disperse the crowd and restore order, police reportedly fired four rounds. Following the strong police action, the situation was brought under control, though tension continued to prevail in the area for some time. Security was tightened to prevent any further escalation.

Local sources said that tensions had been simmering for several days over the distribution of contractor work and the sharing of commissions related to development projects in the Kailashahar area. These internal disputes within the ruling party ultimately erupted into violence in full public view.

Police have begun an investigation into the incident, and further action is expected as authorities assess the involvement of individuals from both groups and the alleged use of firearms.
