Chief Minister of Tripura Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday joined the virtual inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony of six key projects under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) from Pragya Bhavan, Agartala. The programme was held in the august presence of Union Minister for DoNER Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.
The event marked the inauguration of three major projects aimed at improving infrastructure and basic services in the state. These included the Solar Micro Grid Project to ensure reliable electricity supply in remote and inaccessible habitations, the Jatanbari–Mandirghat Road spanning 13.78 km, and the Gandacherra–Narikelkunja Road of 8 km, both designed to significantly enhance road connectivity in interior areas.
Simultaneously, foundation stones were laid for three additional projects, the Jampui Hill–Kangrai Road (8.63 km), the Kowaifung–Karbook Road (9 km), and a modern Veterinary Clinical Complex at RK Nagar. These projects are expected to boost socio-economic development, improve transportation, and strengthen veterinary healthcare services across Tripura.
Addressing the programme, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said the projects demonstrate the Central Government’s strong commitment to the holistic development of Tripura and the North Eastern region. He emphasised that improved connectivity, reliable power supply, and modern infrastructure are essential for inclusive growth and better quality of life for people living in remote and border areas.
Union DoNER Minister Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia echoed similar sentiments, stating that the inaugurated and proposed projects reflect the collective resolve of the Central and State Governments to bridge developmental gaps, enhance regional connectivity, and create sustainable infrastructure across the North East, with Tripura playing an important role in this vision.
Meanwhile, Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia is scheduled to visit Kailashahar tomorrow at 2.15 pm, where he will visit Agar village and inaugurate Agarwood-related projects at Uttar Fulbari in Kadamtala under North Tripura district. The initiative is aimed at promoting livelihood opportunities and value-added agro-based industries in rural areas.
On January 25, at 10 am, the Union Minister will also launch a major tourism project at Dumboor in Gandatwisa, in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury. The project is expected to give a significant boost to eco-tourism and local employment while showcasing Tripura’s natural and cultural heritage on the national tourism map.
The series of initiatives underline a renewed focus on infrastructure led growth, sustainable development, and tourism promotion in Tripura under the DoNER framework.
