Listed miscreant and smuggler vandalises a shop and assaults owner in Bamutia for asking for pending dues

The generally peaceful Bamutia area under Mohanpur subdivision till now is rapidly slipping into lawlessness and criminal activities. Within a few days of the theft from a high school last week, an aged sweet shop owner in Tebara Sabuj Sangh area in Bamutia assembly constituency was severely beaten up this morning by a local miscreant and notorious smuggler and drug trafficker Gautam Roy. The old man is now in GBP hospital undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in the attack by Gautam Roy. The incident happened this morning around 9-00 AM today.

Giving details police sources said that this morning miscreant Gautam Roy, recently released from jail custody , appeared in the sweet shop run by Gouranga Deb (61) and asked for sweets and also wanted to have a cup of tea. Before giving what Gautam Roy asked for the old owner Gouranga Deb demanded that his pending dues of Rs 500.00 be paid first . At this the miscreant Gautam Roy turned ballistic and pushed Gouranga Deb down on the ground and beat him up severely . Having heard the cries of Gouranga Deb for help , local people rushed to the sweet shop but found that miscreant Gautam Roy had fled the spot.

The local people took injured Gouranga Deb to the local primary health centre but the doctor referred him to GBP hospital. Sources said that Gautam Roy had recently been released from jail custody after serving a term of confinement for involvement in crimes like smuggling, theft and snatching but was back to his old game of crimes. While lying on bed Gouranga Deb said that he would file a specific case with the police against his attacker Gautam Roy.
