Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi extended warm greetings to the people of Tripura on the occasion of the state’s Statehood Day, reaffirming the Central Government’s unwavering commitment to inclusive development, enhanced connectivity, lasting peace, and prosperity in Tripura and the entire Northeast.

Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha shared the Prime Minister’s message on his social media platforms, informing that the Prime Minister conveyed his greetings to the sisters and brothers of Tripura and highlighted the state’s rich cultural heritage and dynamic people.

In his message, the Prime Minister recalled his recent visit to Tripura during Navaratri in September 2025, when he offered prayers at the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple and reviewed ongoing development works at the temple complex. He described Tripura as a land blessed with cultural richness and spiritual significance.

Shri Modi noted that for decades, the people of the Northeast, including Tripura, remained distant from the national mainstream, both emotionally and geographically. He said it was an honour for his government to work towards bridging these gaps by improving connectivity, strengthening emotional bonds, and ensuring inclusive growth across the region.

Referring to the government’s vision of Purvodaya, the Prime Minister said that accelerating development in Eastern India is simultaneously transforming the Northeast. Initiatives such as the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav, promotion of the region’s social, economic and cultural potential, startup and investment summits, and empowerment of states through GI tags for unique products all stem from this inclusive development vision.

Highlighting governance achievements, Shri Modi stated that over the last eight years, the double-engine government at the Centre and in Tripura has worked with dedication to transform the state. He said these sustained efforts align with the mandate given by the people of Tripura in the 2018 and 2023 Assembly elections.

The Prime Minister said that a wide range of development initiatives has significantly improved the Ease of Living for the people of Tripura, with special emphasis on strengthening both physical and social infrastructure. He also mentioned that the Union Cabinet has recently approved new components under existing Special Development Packages, which will have a particularly positive impact on the tribal communities of the state.

Shri Modi highlighted key milestones such as the inauguration of the new integrated terminal building at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala in 2022, which has boosted connectivity, commerce, and tourism. He noted that Tripura’s economy has shown remarkable growth, supported by reforms aimed at reducing compliance burdens and promoting deregulation to attract investment and create new opportunities for youth.

Praising the state’s agricultural and environmental initiatives, the Prime Minister said Tripura’s farmers have set an inspiring example in environmental consciousness. He noted that the state is among the leaders in implementing the PM-KISUM scheme in the Northeast and commended the growing adoption of natural farming practices. He also acknowledged focused support for weavers, mulberry growers, and pineapple farmers, which is strengthening livelihoods and ensuring long-term growth.

Referring to Tripura’s past challenges, Shri Modi said that the state was once overshadowed by insurgency and unrest, disrupting daily life and limiting opportunities for youth. He said the people of Tripura have shown remarkable courage and resolve by choosing peace over conflict. He described the 2024 Peace Accord with the NLFT and ATTF as ushering in a new dawn of hope for the state.

The Prime Minister said that the people of Tripura have clearly rejected retrograde ideologies and placed their trust in governance that delivers. He expressed hope that the blessings of Mata Tripura Sundari would continue to guide the people of the state and reaffirmed the Centre’s resolve to work together to realise the vision of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur and take Tripura to even greater heights.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for his warm wishes and continued support, stating that the message reflects the Centre’s strong commitment to Tripura’s all-round development, peace, and inclusive progress.
