‘Tripra Motha’ MLA Ranjit Debbarma who has emerged as a vocal advocate for tribal development and interest yesterday called on the governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu in the Raj Bhawan and submitted a memorandum . He also held a discussion with the governor on various aspects of tribal development and interest.

While speaking to media persons after emerging from the Raj Bhawan Rajit said that he had pointed out that there should a detailed and comprehensive discussion in the assembly session over the unresolved questions of tribal development. “The scope for discussion in the state assembly on various aspects of tribal development is limited and constrained by lack of time ; I urged upon the honourable governor to direct the state government to ensure a comprehensive discussion ; this is now essential” said Ranjit .

When his attention was drawn to the chief minister Dr Manik Saha’s recent claims that over the past few years the ADC authority had been given Rs 6645 crores , Ranjit said that a detailed break-up of the amounts and on heads of expenses should be clarified from year to year. “All that sounds good but we need to know the detailed break-up and year-wise accounts ; this has never come up for discussion in the state assembly” said Ranjit. Responding to claims by tribal welfare minister Bikash Debbarma that hundreds of ‘Tipra Motha’ workers and supporters have been joining BJP , Ranjit said that ‘the chief minister should see that such statements are not made, we fought the ADC elections in 2021 and the assembly election in 2023 alone and we will fight our way ahead’ .

He also charge BJP’s ‘Jana Jati Morcha’ general secretary Bipin Debbarma’s provocative statements blaming ‘Tipra Motha’ for all violence and said that the BJP leadership should restrain such leaders from making statements that spark tension and spoil peace. Ranjit asserted that he will raise these issues in the state assembly.
