Agartala January : As the February 12 elections draw near in Bangladeshi hellscape , the selective and violent targeting of Hindu minorities by the barbarian ‘Momins’ continue to intensify as a matter of inverse correlation . In the latest incident Ripon Saha (30) a poor worker in a petrol pump in Rajbari district town area near Dhaka, was crushed to death by the driver of a motor vehicle to avoid payment of price for petrol purchased from a pump early this morning. Sources from Bangladesh said that early this morning a vehicle owned by Md Abul Hasem, former BNP treasurer in Rajbari and a leading contractor had checked into the Karim petrol filling pump and drawn petrol several thousand BD Taka. In order to avoid the payment the vehicle being driven by Kamal Hossain with the contractor seated in the rear tried to run away but even at the risk of his life Ripon Saha stood in front to stop it. But the driver , possibly instructed by the owner , ran ahead and drove the vehicle over Ripon Saha and crushed him dead on the spot before fleeing the spot. Having received a complaint from the pump owner a team of Rajbari police station later seized the vehicle and arrested the owner Md Abu Hasem and the driver Kamal Hossain.

Earlier this week the residence of teacher Birendra Kumar Dey (56) had been set afire deliberately by another demented ‘Momin’ mob of dacoits and murderers in Gowani Bazar sub-district under Sylhet district in northern Bangladesh. Sources said that on Monday last Samir Kumar Das (27) an autorickshaw driver had been brutally murdered in Dagonbhuiya subdistrict under Pheni district. His dead body bearing multiple injuries had been recovered by police from a paddy field . In yet another grisly incident on last Wednesday another Hindu mathematics teacher Anadi Biswa (41) of Matharipur Merchant School had been physically assaulted by two youths of 17-18 on his way back home with a hammer. Anadi Biswas sustained injuries on head but survived providentially as the attack had caught the attention of a section of local people. Anadi Biswas is a resident of Mathripur district headquarter.

There is a widespread fear and panic among the Hindus across Bangladesh in the run-up to the polls as the spate of violence over the past seventeen months of interim government’s misrule is likely to further intensify as the February 12 polls draw close. While the lumpen fundamentalist elements are desperate to win the elections and seize power by preventing Hindus and other minorities from voting , there is a deafening silence among the political parties over the spate of organised attacks, killings , arsoning and targeting of Hindus . Even the majority of media outlets controlled by the ‘Momins’ is silent over these barbarism in the dense jungle of a country called Bangladesh.
