Tripura Chief Minister on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the functioning of the Autonomous District Council (ADC), alleging that despite regular financial allocations by the state government, visible development in ADC areas has failed to take place.
Addressing a massive public gathering at Kanchanpur, the Chief Minister said that the dream of a Viksit Bharat envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot be realised unless the overall development of ADC areas is ensured. He asserted that such development is possible only under the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The Chief Minister said that the state government has been consistently releasing funds to the ADC, but the money is not being utilised effectively for the welfare and progress of the people living in those areas. Stressing the need for accountability and result-oriented governance, he called for a new approach to ensure that development reaches the grassroots.
During his address, the Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of unity, stating that divisions between communities and tribes must be removed to build a developed and inclusive ADC. He reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to creating a peaceful, progressive, and developed ADC by bringing all sections of society together.
Meanwhile, during the Chief Minister’s visit to Kanchanpur, reports of communal violence emerged from Shimultali under the Fatikroy Assembly constituency. In the incident, several houses of common people, vehicles, and a mosque were reportedly set on fire in Shimultali, creating panic and tension in the area.
Strongly condemning the incident, both the CPI(M) and the Congress expressed serious concern over the violence and demanded immediate steps to restore peace and ensure strict action against those responsible.
The administration has been urged to maintain law and order and take necessary measures to prevent further escalation of tension in the affected area. Both Congress and CPIM accused Minister Sudhanshu Das for this riots due to his recent provocative statements against minority Muslims.
