The All Tripura School Computer Shikshak Sangha (ATSCSS), an affiliate of the pro-BJP Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS,) have urged upon the state government for further extension of their service and retention as science teachers across all schools beyond the date of March 31 this year. The ATSCSS have also thanked the state government for extending their services up to March this year as per an order passed on December 31 2025.

Speaking in an interactive session with the media in Agartala Press Club , the state president of the ATSCSS, Bhabesh Chakraborty said that the BJP led state government had introduced computer education at the school level from class VII to XII in the year 2021 by recruiting contingent teachers up to December 2025 . At present altogether 1079 schools are under coverage of computer education though the programme had begun with students in 365 schools. “We are thankful that though our services contractually ended on December 31 last year the state government extended this up to March 31 this year by an official order in the interest of students”said Bhabesh Chakraborty. He urged upon the state government to emulate the examples of state governments of Punjab , Haryana and Assam in northeast to keep the ICT computer teachers in service beyond the scheduled three-month period so that the students at the school level can benefit from computer education which is a must now for advancing in life in the modern era.

Bhabesh Chakraborty , on behalf of his organisation, said that the onerous task of imparting computer education to students can not be outsourced to any third party or company and it should be kept directly in the hands of the government. “According to guideline issued by the central government the computer education can be kept in the hands of the third party through part-time teachers for the first five years and then the state government should take this over; we urge upon the gracious state government to give importance to this angle and do the needful in the interest of essential computer education for students” said Bhabesh Chakraborty. He also announced that a delegation of the ATSCSS will soon seek an appointment with the chief minister Dr Manik Saha to apprise him of the situation pertaining to computer education at the school level as well as to urge him to fulfil their demands.

The ATSCSS authority also attached with their written statement the copy of an order passed by the state government of Assam on May 20 last year extending and regularising the services of computer teachers under various schemes . This provides a solid proof of what steps other states are taking to give benefits to computer teachers in the interest of students there.
