The three day long 5th International Agarwood Conclave and Buyer-Seller Meet commenced at Pragna Bhawan, Agartala, on Thursday morning, marking another major step in reinforcing Tripura’s position on the global agarwood map. The prestigious international event, which will continue till January 10, 2026, was inaugurated in the presence of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma, senior government officials, industry experts, and other distinguished dignitaries.

The Conclave is being organised by the NTFP Centre of Excellence under the Tripura Forest Department, reflecting the state government’s continued focus on promoting sustainable agarwood production, processing, and trade.

Over the years, the International Agarwood Conclave has evolved into a flagship platform showcasing Tripura’s growing prominence in the agarwood sector. What initially began as an initiative to connect local agarwood growers with domestic markets has now transformed into a premier international forum, drawing participation from global buyers, policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders.

Entering its fifth edition, the Conclave highlights Tripura’s steady journey towards becoming a leading hub for high-quality agarwood, compliance-driven practices, and innovation. The event has played a key role in giving Tripura’s agarwood sector a distinct identity, increasingly recognised and valued in international markets.

This year’s Conclave has witnessed high-level participation from major national institutions, including the Director General of Forests & CITES Management Authority, India, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), and the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER). Their presence underlines the growing policy and strategic importance of the agarwood sector, particularly in the areas of exports, regulatory compliance, and sustainable resource management.

A series of technical and policy-oriented sessions have been scheduled across the three days, focusing on government strategy, policy formulation, digital trade facilitation, and scientific advancements in agarwood cultivation and production. These deliberations are expected to play a decisive role in shaping the future regulatory framework and business environment of the agarwood industry in Tripura and the wider region.

One of the major highlights of the Conclave will be the structured Buyer-Seller Meet on Day Two, aimed at creating direct engagement opportunities for Tripura’s agarwood entrepreneurs. Through focused B2B interactions, product exhibitions, and boardroom-level discussions, local growers and traders will be able to connect directly with international buyers, paving the way for new export opportunities and long-term business partnerships.

The organisers have invited all stakeholders, including growers, traders, researchers, policymakers, and investors to actively participate in the Conclave and contribute to shaping the next chapter of Tripura’s agarwood success story. With strong institutional backing and growing global interest, the three-day 5th International Agarwood Conclave is expected to mark another significant milestone in Tripura’s march towards global leadership in the sustainable agarwood sector.
