Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha on Tuesday emphasized the need to actively involve non-resident Tripuris in the overall development of the state, particularly in infrastructure and industrial growth, while underlining that there is no scope for complacency despite Tripura’s national-level recognition for project implementation.
Addressing a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat conference hall on the progress of various development projects undertaken by different departments, the Chief Minister said that Tripura has secured first place at the national level and received awards for ensuring proper and timely execution of developmental works. However, he cautioned that such achievements should not lead to self-satisfaction.
“Works must be completed within the stipulated time. Clear targets should be fixed for infrastructure development projects, and deadlines must be strictly adhered to,” Dr. Saha asserted.
Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building an Atmanirbhar Bharat, the Chief Minister said that special emphasis has been laid on strengthening infrastructure across the country. To translate this vision into reality, Tripura must implement various projects with well-defined goals and timelines.
Dr. Saha also stressed the importance of engaging members of the Tripuri diaspora in the state’s infrastructure development process. He noted that seeking their expertise, ideas and suggestions would not only enrich planning but also encourage non-resident Tripuris to invest in the industrial sector of the state, thereby boosting economic growth and employment opportunities.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister took stock of the progress of development projects across departments and offered necessary guidance and directives to ensure effective implementation.
Finance Minister Pranajit Singh Roy was present at the meeting and was briefed on the progress of works undertaken by various departments. Secretaries of key departments, including Finance Secretary Apurba Roy, PWD Secretary Kiran Gitte, Urban Development Secretary Abhishek Singh, Education Secretary Ravel Hemendra Kumar, and Rural Development Additional Secretary Kuntal Das, presented detailed updates on their respective departmental projects.
The meeting was also attended by Director General of Police Anurag, Chief Minister’s Secretary Dr. P.K. Chakraborty, and senior officials from different departments, reflecting the government’s coordinated approach towards accelerating infrastructure-led development in Tripura.
