Union Minister reviews tribal welfare schemes during Tripura visit

Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Durga Das Uikey on Tuesday held a series of meetings in Tripura to review issues related to the welfare and development of indigenous communities, with a focus on effective implementation of government schemes.
During his visit to Gomati district, Uikey participated in an interaction programme with tribal leaders at the district circuit house. The meeting witnessed detailed discussions on the challenges faced by tribal communities and the progress of various development initiatives aimed at improving their socio-economic conditions. Representatives of different tribal groups highlighted concerns related to infrastructure, education, livelihoods and access to welfare benefits, urging coordinated efforts by the Centre and the state government.
Later, the Union minister held a meeting in Agartala with Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma. The two leaders reviewed the status of centrally sponsored schemes under the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs and discussed measures to expedite development projects in tribal-dominated areas.
Official sources said the discussions emphasised strengthening basic infrastructure, enhancing educational facilities, creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and ensuring timely delivery of welfare benefits to indigenous communities.
As part of his itinerary, Uikey also offered prayers at the Tripura Sundari temple in Gomati district, seeking peace, development and overall well-being for the people of the state, officials said.
