In a significant boost to tourism-led development in Tripura, the foundation stone laying and bhoomi pujan ceremony for the Development of Tripura Heritage Village & Sangeet Experience under Swadesh Darshan 2.0, along with the establishment of an Amusement Park, was held at Sachindranagar Colony, Jirania. The ceremony took place in the presence of Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, Cabinet Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, and other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the present state government is working with a clear and time-bound plan to modernise existing tourist destinations while simultaneously developing new tourism hubs across Tripura. He emphasised that tourism has been identified as a key driver of economic growth, employment generation, and cultural preservation.
“As a result of these focused efforts, the Tripura Heritage Village and Sangeet Experience project will be developed at Sachindranagar, Jirania under Swadesh Darshan 2.0, along with an amusement park. These projects will not only enhance the tourism profile of the state but also fulfil a long-cherished demand of the local people,” the Chief Minister said.
The project is being implemented by the Tourism Department with the objective of showcasing Tripura’s rich cultural heritage, traditional lifestyle, indigenous art forms, and musical legacy through an immersive experience for visitors. The proposed amusement park, inspired by the Kolkata Nicco Park model, is expected to become a major attraction for families, youths, and tourists from within and outside the state.
The Chief Minister further stated that once completed, the projects would create substantial employment opportunities for local youths and allied sectors, including hospitality, transport, handicrafts, and cultural entrepreneurship. He reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive development, ensuring that tourism growth directly benefits local communities.
Cabinet Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, who is also the MLA of the Majlishpur constituency, expressed gratitude to the state leadership for approving the project for Jirania. He said the initiative would transform the area into an important tourism and recreation destination and contribute significantly to the region’s socio-economic development.
The ceremony marked an important milestone in Tripura’s tourism roadmap under Swadesh Darshan 2.0, reflecting the state government’s vision of sustainable, culture-centric, and employment-oriented tourism development.
