CM bats for original script for ‘Kokborok’ , predicts victory in ADC polls, accepts tribal voters into BJP fold

The chief minister Dr Manik Saha has called upon a section of tribals agitating for Roman script for ‘Kokborok’ language to have an original script devised for the language . “There is no need for an agitation , you have an original script devised for the growth and development of the language and it will shine ; there is also a strong possibility that ‘Kokborok’ language will ultimately be included in the 8th schedule of the constitution” said the chief minister . He was addressing a rally organised by the BJP’s ‘Jana Jati Morcha’ in the Barmura area” asserted the chief minister. He also told the impressive audience that in the upcoming election to the Autonomous District Council (ADC) it is the BJP that will win and ensure true development of the indigenous people. “We will do whatever is needed to ensure a holistic development of the indigenous community of people in this state ; our duty is to see that the indigenous people live in peace and prosperity for ever” said Dr Saha.

Alongside the chief minister the rally was also addressed by the BJP state president Rajiv Bhattacharjee , the general secretary of the ‘Jana Jati Morcha’, BJP’s tribal front organisation, Bipin Debbarma and minster for tribal welfare Bikash Debbarma. While speaking in the rally chief minister made a politically significant observation : ‘no good work can be done with deception and those who try such tactics end up as failure’. “If the minuscule minority Chakma tribal community can devise their own original script , our indigenous community can also do so, the state government will extend all possible help in this regard” said Dr Saha. He added that the indigenous people have been showing a keen interest in being part of the BJP, specially the women section and the party always welcome them heartily.

In the rally altogether 495 tribal voters belonging to 181 families joined the BJP by accepting party flags from the chief minister and other VIPs present. They announced in the meeting that from now on they will work for the party and try to strengthen it further .
