Three Senior Ministers Kishor Barman, Sudhanshu Das and Animesh Debbarma on Saturday gave a firm assurance to the SC and ST communities that the present state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, will never compromise on the constitutional system of reservation.

Addressing a high-level seminar on SC/ST Reservation: 'Present Context, Challenges and the Way Ahead' at Muktadhara Auditorium, Agartala, two BJP Ministers and One Tipra Motha Minister asserted that reservation will not only continue but will be further strengthened to ensure that its benefits reach the genuine marginalized sections of society.

All the three Tripura Cabinet Ministers strongly cautioned against what they described as deliberate propaganda aimed at weakening or dismantling the reservation system. Such narratives, they said, directly attack the Constitution, social justice, and the rights of historically deprived communities, and are dangerous for social harmony.

Highlighting ground realities, minister Kishore Barman pointed out that Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes continue to face structural disadvantages in education, employment, and overall social development. Reservation, he emphasized, is not a matter of charity but a constitutionally guaranteed right designed to correct historical injustice.

The seminar witnessed the presence of several senior IAS, TCS, ministers, including Sudhangshu Das and Animesh Debbarma. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Animesh Debbarma thanked the participants for their active engagement and meaningful contributions. He expressed hope that the discussions and insights shared would strengthen collective understanding and help ensure justice, equity, and effective implementation of reservation policies for SC/ST communities. He also acknowledged the efforts of all those who contributed, directly or indirectly, to the successful organization of the seminar.

Minister Sudhangshu Das, who also addressed the gathering, remarked that such informed deliberations play a crucial role in reinforcing the principles of justice and equality in society and in shaping a more inclusive policy framework.

The seminar was jointly organized by Tripura Tribal Officers’ Welfare Forum (TTOWF), All Tripura SC Officers Welfare Society (ATSCOWS) and Tipra Engineers Society (TEST). It was held from 10.00 am on January 4, 2026, at Muktadhara Auditorium, Agartala.

Retired IAS SC Das, former Law Secretary of the Government of Tripura D M Jamatia, addressed the seminar as Special Speaker and Keynote Speaker respectively, offering in-depth perspectives on constitutional safeguards and policy challenges.

The programme was attended by a wide range of distinguished dignitaries and officials, including senior engineers, welfare officers, and administrative heads, reflecting strong institutional support for protecting and strengthening the reservation framework.

Concluding the event, the speakers collectively underlined that safeguarding the Constitution and protecting the reservation system remain a shared responsibility and an unwavering commitment of the state.
