The India Meteorological Department (IMD), through its Meteorological Centre at Agartala, has issued a seven day weather forecast along with a five day warning for Tripura, predicting predominantly dry weather across the state, while cautioning about dense fog in some districts during the early part of the forecast period.
According to the forecast released on January 5, dry weather is very likely to prevail over all districts of Tripura for the next seven days. Winter conditions are expected to continue, with relatively cooler nights and early mornings. During the first two days, night and early morning hours may witness moderate fog formation, particularly in low-lying and moisture-prone areas.
The IMD has issued a yellow warning for dense fog, which may reduce visibility to 199–500 metres at isolated places during late night to early morning hours. This warning is mainly applicable to West Tripura, Khowai, Sepahijala, Gomati, and South Tripura districts during the first two days of the forecast period.
The reduced visibility could affect road transport, especially during early morning hours. Motorists, commuters, and pedestrians have been advised to remain cautious, use fog lights where necessary, and avoid high-speed travel in fog-prone areas.
No Adverse Weather Ahead
From the third day onwards, the Meteorological Centre has not issued any weather warning for any district of Tripura, indicating stable and favourable weather conditions across the state. The forecast suggests the continuation of dry weather with typical winter conditions and no likelihood of rainfall or severe weather events during the remaining forecast period.
The IMD has advised citizens to keep track of official weather bulletins and strictly follow safety precautions during foggy conditions, particularly while travelling on highways and open roads during early morning hours.
The weather outlook brings relief for daily life and outdoor activities across Tripura, while urging short-term caution during the initial fog-prone days.
