44th Agartala Book Fair Inaugurated at Hapania, CM Manik Saha Calls It a Festival of Intellect, Creativity and Conscious Reading

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday inaugurated the 44th Agartala Book Fair at the Hapania International Fair Ground, describing the event as a grand celebration of intellect, reflection, and creative consciousness.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Speaker Ram Prasad Pal, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumder, local MLAs, noted intellectuals, writers, publishers, and a large gathering of book lovers.

Addressing the audience, the Chief Minister said that the Agartala Book Fair has evolved into a vibrant confluence of authors, publishers, and readers every year. He remarked that the fair plays a crucial role in nurturing healthy thought, literary practice, and cultural growth, while continuing to inspire the younger generation to develop a love for books even in this digital age.

Calling the book fair a mahotsav of talent, intellect, and creativity, Dr. Saha emphasized that reading remains essential for building an enlightened and progressive society. He urged people from all walks of life to cultivate a regular reading habit and to use platforms like the Agartala Book Fair to reconnect with literature, ideas, and critical thinking.

The 13 day long fair, which began on January 2, will continue till January 14 and features over 170 stalls showcasing books in multiple languages. Alongside book sales, the fair hosts book launches, literary discussions, quizzes, cultural programmes, and interactive sessions with authors, making it one of Tripura’s most significant cultural events of the year.

The Agartala Book Fair once again stands as a testament to Tripura’s deep rooted literary tradition and its continuing commitment to promoting reading culture and intellectual engagement in contemporary times.
