Tripura Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Thursday flagged off a consignment of 1,000 kg of organic white sesame to Gujarat under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region.

The organic white sesame was jointly marketed by Loknath Organic FPC, Dhalai Organic FPC and Yapri Organic FPC, and supplied to Media Minds, a subsidiary of Amul, at Anand in Gujarat. The development marks another milestone in the growing acceptance of Tripura’s organic produce in national markets.

Addressing the event, Nath said the shipment was not just a commercial success but also a symbolic beginning of a new phase in the expansion of Tripura’s organic agriculture at the start of the New Year. He said the state government would focus in 2026 on strengthening organic marketing systems, ensuring direct market linkages for farmers and expanding outreach at the state, inter-state and international levels.

Calling 2026 a year of new opportunities, the minister said the initiative reflected the collective efforts of farmers, farmer producer companies and the government. He also acknowledged the support of the International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture and Sheel Biotech for their role in certification, quality assurance and market linkage.

Extending New Year greetings, Nath expressed hope that the coming year would bring higher incomes for farmers, stronger value chains and sustainable growth in Tripura’s organic agriculture sector.
