District Level Saras Fair in Dharmanagar Concludes with Record Rs. 42.50 Lakh Sales, Marking Major Boost to Women Led Rural Economy

The district level Saras Fair at the DNV Ground in Dharmanagar concluded yesterday with a record breaking total sale of Rs. 42,50,283, underscoring a remarkable rise in women’s economic participation and rural entrepreneurship in North Tripura.
Sharing the final day sales update, Chandni Chandran, District Magistrate and Collector of North Tripura, said the figures clearly reflect the growing strength of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and expanding public confidence in locally produced goods. She highlighted that last year’s total sales stood at only Rs. 16 lakh, making this year’s achievement a significant leap forward.
The District Magistrate reiterated that the core objective of the Saras Fair is to strengthen the rural economy, provide expanded market access for SHG-produced goods, and promote self-reliance among women, often referred to as 'didis'. She noted that the overwhelming response from buyers is a testament to the quality, diversity, and market potential of products created by SHGs across North Tripura.
Local stakeholders and participants have credited the guidance and proactive leadership of DM Chandni Chandran, IAS, for the visible bloom across multiple development sectors in the district.
