Professor Alak Bhattacharya Elected to National Executive Body of Indian Political Science Association

Professor Dr. Alak Bhattacharya, Head of the Department of Political Science at Tripura University, has been elected as a member of the Executive Council of the Indian Political Science Association (IPSA), one of the oldest and most prestigious national bodies dedicated to the study and advancement of political science in India.

His election to the IPSA Executive Council marks a significant academic milestone, enabling him to actively contribute to political science research, higher education policy, and scholarly dialogue at national and international levels. The development has been widely welcomed by faculty members, researchers, and students of Tripura University, who have expressed pride in this notable achievement. University authorities have also conveyed their heartfelt congratulations.

Professor Bhattacharya, known for his extensive academic contributions, has worked widely in the areas of political psychology, good governance, political philosophy, and research.

It is noteworthy that under the initiative of the Indian Political Science Association, a two-day All India Political Science Conference and International Seminar was held on 27–28 December 2025 at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar. The conference witnessed participation from a large number of political scientists, scholars, and researchers from across the country.

Four lifetime members of IPSA from the Political Science Department of Tripura University took part in the conference. Professor Dr. Alak Bhattacharya and Dr. Biplab Debnath, Assistant Professor, delivered keynote addresses, while Dr. Sumon Ali, Guest Faculty, and Mr. Dhiman Roy, Research Scholar, made important academic contributions during the panel discussions.
