Amid the recent declaration of Bishramganj as a Nagar Panchayat in Sepahijala district, the district administration has strongly refuted allegations and misinformation being deliberately circulated by certain quarters regarding the inclusion of ADC areas.

Clarifying the issue, the district administration stated that misleading narratives are being spread intentionally to create confusion among the public over the formation of the new Nagar Panchayat. The actual process, officials clarified, involves the consolidation of a few fast-growing Gram Panchayats adjoining the Bishramganj market area to form the new urban local body.

It has been categorically stated that no area under the Autonomous District Council (ADC) has been included in the newly formed Bishramganj Nagar Panchayat. The administration further emphasised that there is neither any scope nor any legal provision for including ADC areas in the municipal setup.

District Magistrate and Collector of Sepahijala, Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, made the position clear while interacting with local media. He asserted that the entire process has been carried out strictly as per rules and within the framework of existing laws, leaving no room for ambiguity or misinterpretation.

The District Magistrate urged the public not to be misled by rumours and to rely only on official communications issued by the district administration. He also appealed to all sections to maintain social harmony and avoid spreading unverified information.

The clarification comes in the backdrop of the recently notified final ward delimitation and the formal process of urban restructuring in Sepahijala district, which, according to the administration, aims at planned urban development and improved civic governance.

The final delimitation of municipal constituencies (wards) for major urban local bodies in Sepahijala district has been officially completed and notified by the Government of Tripura today. The notification has been issued by the Office of the District Magistrate and Collector, Sepahijala, and has come into force with immediate effect.

As per the official press release, the final ward delimitation covers the municipal jurisdictions of Bishalgarh Municipal Council, Melaghar Municipal Council, Sonamura Nagar Panchayat, and Bishramganj Nagar Panchayat. The delimitation exercise has been carried out strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Tripura Municipal Act, 1994, and the Tripura Municipal (Delimitation of Constituencies) Rules, 1994.

The draft delimitation of municipal wards was earlier published on December 23, 2025, and placed in the public domain to invite claims, objections, and suggestions from stakeholders and the general public. Objections and suggestions received within the stipulated period from December 23 to December 30, 2025, were thoroughly examined and duly considered by the competent authority before finalising the ward boundaries.

After completion of all procedural formalities, the final delimitation order was officially published on December 31, 2025. The order has taken effect immediately. Copies of the final delimitation notification are available on the official website of the District Magistrate and Collector, Sepahijala, and can also be accessed from the offices of the Sub-Divisional Magistrates at Bishalgarh and Sonamura.

Meanwhile, the district administration has issued a clarification to counter misinformation circulating on certain social media platforms. It has categorically stated that no part of any Autonomous District Council (ADC) area has been included in the final delimitation of municipal constituencies.

The press release has been signed by Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, District Magistrate and Collector of Sepahijala district, and was issued from Bishramganj on December 31, 2025.
