In a series of coordinated anti-narcotics operations, Tripura Police, in collaboration with the Forest Department, TSR, BSF and district administrations, carried out extensive raids across multiple districts, leading to the destruction of large-scale illegal ganja cultivation and seizure of huge quantities of cannabis.

On Monday, a joint team comprising officers and staff of Madhupur Police Station, the Forest Department and TSR personnel conducted a prolonged operation from 10:00 hrs to 15:00 hrs at Debipur Farm and Radhanagar areas under Madhupur Police Station jurisdiction. During the raid, nearly two lakh premature ganja plants illegally cultivated on forest land were uprooted and destroyed on the spot, dealing a major blow to organized drug cultivators in the region.

As part of sustained enforcement action, Kalamchowra Police Station led a massive destruction drive on 29 December 2025 at several locations in the Boxanagar area under forest land. The operation was carried out jointly with BSF, TSR personnel and other line departments, resulting in the destruction of approximately 12,000 ganja plants. Investigation has been initiated under the NDPS Act in connection with the illegal cultivation.

In a separate operation under the ongoing ‘Nesha Mukt Tripura’ campaign, Melaghar Police Station, acting on specific intelligence, conducted a coordinated raid on 29 December 2025 at Poangbari with the assistance of TSR personnel. The team successfully recovered 105 kg of dry ganja from the area. A specific case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Tripura Police with monitoring from CMO Tripura and the District Administration Sepahijala.

Meanwhile, on 27 December 2025, Pecharthal Police, along with personnel from 15th Battalion TSR under Unakoti District, conducted a special operation at the Kuli Basti forest area near Machmara Tea Garden. During the operation, police destroyed around 15,000 to 17,000 fully matured ganja plants spread across eight separate plots, once again confirming the scale of illegal cultivation in forested pockets.

Senior officials stated that these back to back operations reflect the government’s zero tolerance approach towards drug trafficking and illegal cultivation. Law enforcement agencies have reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying surveillance, intelligence led operations and legal action to ensure a drug-free Tripura.

Authorities have warned that strict action under the NDPS Act will continue against those involved in narcotics cultivation, storage and trafficking, and have appealed to the public to share information to support the state’s anti-drug operations.
