The Prabashi Tripurabashi Summit 2025–26, held at Polo Hotel in Agartala, marked a major step towards strengthening Tripura’s engagement with its non-resident diaspora, with significant investment announcements led by the Bandhan Group.

Chairman of Bandhan Group, Chandra Sekhar Ghosh, announced that the group will establish a medical college in Ambassa very soon with an initial investment of Rs. 200 crore. He said the proposed institution would include allied healthcare facilities and would play a crucial role in strengthening Tripura’s medical education and healthcare infrastructure while creating employment opportunities for local youth.

In another important announcement, Ghosh proposed setting up a skill incubation centre in Tripura with an estimated investment of Rs. 10 crore, provided the state government offers ready space along with free electricity and internet connectivity. The proposed centre aims to enhance skill development and entrepreneurship among the youth of the state.

Appealing to other members of the Tripura diaspora, Ghosh urged them to actively participate in Tripura’s development journey by investing in key sectors and sharing their professional expertise and experience.

The summit brought together around 80 non-resident Tripuris from different parts of India, particularly from Delhi, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, along with 10 to 12 NRIs from abroad. While only a few participants got the opportunity to interact and share their ideas during the session, several Prabashi Tripurabashis later demanded that the summit be extended to at least two days in future editions to allow broader participation and interaction.

From the state government side, Dr. Manik Saha, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, and Saju Vaheed, Additional Secretary, addressed the gathering. Industry, IT and Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, who was the main organiser of the summit, delivered his address through a video message, outlining the objectives of the Prabashi Tripurabashi Summit and its focus on economic growth, healthcare expansion, education, innovation, and technology-driven development.

Addressing the summit, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha requested all Prabashi Tripurabashis to act as ambassadors of Tripura. He said the state has entered a new phase of transformation driven by reforms, transparency, and proactive governance. Emphasising ease of doing business, he assured that the government is committed to creating an investor-friendly ecosystem by simplifying industrial approvals, reducing bureaucratic hurdles, and ensuring time-bound clearances through single-window mechanisms.

The Chief Minister highlighted that non-resident Tripuris have a vital role in shaping Tripura’s future by contributing capital, technology, managerial expertise, and global exposure. He identified healthcare, education, information technology, tourism, agro-based industries, and skill development as sectors with immense investment potential.

The summit also featured discussions on skill development and innovation, stressing the importance of aligning education and training with industry needs. The proposed establishment of incubation centres and skill hubs was seen as a key step towards preparing Tripura’s youth for emerging industries and entrepreneurship.

The Prabashi Tripurabashi Summit concluded with a renewed commitment from both the state government and the diaspora to work together towards building a stronger, more inclusive, and economically vibrant Tripura.
