Speculation Grows Over Next Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly After Demise of Bishwabandhu Sen

Following the demise of Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker Bishwabandhu Sen, political circles are abuzz with speculation over who will assume the crucial constitutional post. According to sources, the name of MLA Rampada Jamatia is emerging strongly as a possible successor. The final decision is expected to be taken before the commencement of the Assembly session scheduled for March.

For the time being, Ram Prasad Pal will discharge the responsibilities of the Speaker on an interim basis. Within political and party circles, several names are doing the rounds, including Kalyani Ray, Ratan Lal Nath, and Rampada Jamatia though no official confirmation has been made so far.

The discussion around the next Speaker began as early as August last year, when Speaker Bishwabandhu Sen fell seriously ill after suffering a brain haemorrhage.
