BSF Jawan Suffers Self-Inflicted Gunshot Injury in Dharmanagar

A Border Security Force jawan sustained bullet injuries late on Monday night while on duty in Dharmanagar, officials said on Tuesday.

The injured trooper has been identified as Bipin Kumar, 35, who is attached to the 97 Battalion of the BSF and was deployed at Maheshpur in North Tripura district. According to sources, the incident occurred during night duty when the weapon he was carrying accidentally discharged, resulting in injuries to his shoulder.

The jawan was immediately rushed to Dharmanagar District Hospital at around 12:30 am, where he received initial treatment and remained under medical observation through the night. Owing to the nature of the injury, he was later referred to GB Pant Hospital in Agartala for advanced medical care.

BSF officials confirmed that the injury was self-inflicted and accidental. An inquiry into the incident is underway.
