Tripura Unveils Startup Policy 2024 to Boost Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Agartala, January 24, 2025: The Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Tripura, launched the ambitious Tripura Startup Policy 2024 at a grand event held at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala. The event, graced by Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha and IT Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, marked a pivotal moment for Tripura's startup ecosystem.Also in attendance were Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha, IT Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director IT Jeya Ragul Geshan B, Shri Panneerselvam Madanagopal, CEO of MeitY Startup Hub, senior officials, entrepreneurs, and students from across the state.

The policy introduces innovative measures and fiscal incentives to empower startups, including:Tri-Seed Funding:

Recognized startups to receive a one-time grant of ₹2 lakhs.Operational Cost Reimbursement: Up to ₹20,000 per month for operational expenses for one year, with additional benefits for women-led and differently-abled-led startups.Prototype Development Aid: Up to ₹10 lakhs for proof-of-concept-based projects.Marketing Assistance: ₹5 lakhs for introducing innovative products/services.Patent Filing Support: Up to ₹2 lakhs for Indian patents and ₹10 lakhs for foreign patents.

Venture Capital Fund: A corpus of ₹50 crores for funding startups, with ticket sizes ranging from ₹25 lakhs to ₹2 crores.

Infrastructure Development: A ₹25-crore corpus for setting up incubators, testing labs, and design studios under the Tri-Infra Fund.Chief Minister Dr. Saha emphasized the state's commitment to fostering a robust startup ecosystem, calling the policy a crucial step toward creating a “Viksit Bharat.” He handed over a ₹75 lakh cheque to TalkEng (Agastya), a local edutech startup, and presented recognition certificates to ILogitron Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and Xlayer Technologies Pvt. Ltd., pioneers under the Tripura IT/ITeS Policy.The event also featured the launch of the Startup Tripura web portal for easier access to resources, alongside the inauguration of the Startup Spark Vans, which will promote entrepreneurial initiatives across all districts of Tripura.The exhibition of innovative products by local startups was a highlight, showcasing the state’s entrepreneurial potential. The Tripura Startup Policy 2024 is poised to transform Tripura into a hub of innovation, creating jobs and fostering economic growth.
