Tripura's Eminent Surgeon Dr. Ajay Saha Conferred Prestigious ‘Sushruta Award’ at ASICON 2025, Kolkata

Eminent surgeon Dr. Ajay Saha was conferred with the prestigious ‘Sushruta Award’ yesterday at ASICON 2025, the annual conference of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), in recognition of his outstanding lifetime contribution to surgery, surgical education, and patient care.

The award was presented during the Grand Inauguration Ceremony of ASICON 2025 held at the Main Auditorium of the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre (BBCC), Kolkata. The honour was bestowed by the ASICON 2025 Organising Committee, under the aegis of the Association of Surgeons of India and organised by the West Bengal Chapter of ASI.

In its citation, the Organising Committee acknowledged Dr. Saha’s exemplary professional excellence, unwavering commitment to surgical education, and dedicated service to patients and trainees, stating that his work has set enduring benchmarks and left a profound impact on the surgical fraternity. The Sushruta Award, named after the ancient father of surgery Acharya Sushruta, is considered one of the highest recognitions in Indian surgery.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of senior surgeons, academicians, and delegates from across the country, who applauded Dr. Saha’s remarkable journey and contributions to the advancement of surgical science in India.

As a mark of respect, Dr. Saha has been accorded complimentary registration for the full ASICON 2025 conference, being held from 17 to 20 December, including participation in the Presidential Dinner and the Banquet Dinner.

The conferment of the Sushruta Award on Dr. Ajay Saha is being widely hailed as a well-deserved honour for a surgeon whose career has been defined by dedication, leadership, and service to the medical community.
