Police arrested three persons from Agartala in two coordinated operations with the assistance of immigration and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, while three Rohingya migrants were detained in a separate incident in North Tripura, officials said on Wednesday.
West Agartala Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee said Pavel Kumar Kar was arrested with the help of immigration officials posted at the Lahaura Integrated Check Post. During follow-up operations, two more persons, identified as Dawd Sheikh and Munna Miah, were arrested from different locations in Agartala city with the assistance of BSF personnel.
A specific case is being registered in connection with the arrests, and the accused will be produced before a court for further legal proceedings, the OC said.
In a separate incident, three Rohingya migrants were detained from Dharmanagar in North Tripura district. Police said the migrants were travelling from Dharmanagar when local vehicle drivers grew suspicious of their identity and alerted the authorities.
The migrants were subsequently handed over to the police for verification and further legal action. Security agencies have intensified checks across the state to prevent illegal movement and ensure strict enforcement of immigration and security laws, officials added.
