The Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited on Monday cautioned job aspirants against a fresh wave of recruitment-related fraud following reports of fake appointment letters being circulated in its name in exchange for money.

Officials said organised scam networks are targeting unemployed youths across the state by contacting them through phone calls and WhatsApp messages, falsely claiming links with government recruitment. Several aspirants were allegedly duped after being promised assured appointments in TSECL and later handed forged appointment letters.

Issuing a public clarification, the power utility said it has no connection with such fraudulent activities. It warned that any individual or group offering jobs in TSECL against payment is a fraudster and urged people to remain alert.

TSECL Managing Director Biswajit Basu said recruitment to engineering posts in the corporation is currently underway through a transparent and merit-based process. He said 4,430 applications have been received for 104 engineering posts across electrical, civil and mechanical disciplines.

Basu said only candidates securing the prescribed cut-off marks in the written examination will be shortlisted for viva voce. All information regarding examinations and recruitment stages will be officially notified through newspapers and the corporation’s website.

The utility appealed to job seekers to rely solely on official notifications and avoid agents or middlemen, stressing that public awareness and vigilance are key to preventing job-related fraud.
