20th ‘Saras’ fair inaugurated in Hapania international fair ground, CM appeals to people to visit and purchase products

The annual ‘Saras’ fair which showcases products made by self-groups, run mostly by women and small scale industries was inaugurated yesterday in the afternoon by the chief minister Dr Manik Saha. Altogether 411 stalls packed with local products have been opened in the fair by women run self-help groups and shortly after the inauguration brisk sales began as hundreds of people visited the fair.
The chief minister Dr Manik Saha who had formally inaugurated the fair by lighting the holy lamp stressed on the importance of the annual ‘Saras’ fair and described it as the platform of unity of inhabitants of the state. “I appeal to the people to come forward and purchase attractive things from those who have opened stalls here ; I have seen the products showcased here and I find them truly attractive and useful; every one should visit the fair and make it a grand success so that our small entrepreneurs belonging to the self help groups can shine” said Manik.
