Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would henceforth begin its electoral seat calculations by adding the 20 Assembly seats reserved for Scheduled Tribes, expressing strong confidence in the party’s growing support among indigenous communities. He also claimed that the BJP would secure all 28 seats in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and form the council government with a full mandate.

The Chief Minister made these remarks while addressing a BJP Janajati Morcha joining programme held in front of Rabindra Bhavan in the state capital. A large number of tribal leaders and supporters joined the BJP at the event.

Dr. Saha said that tribal brothers and sisters have now pledged to win all 28 seats in the TTAADC elections and form the government, reflecting what he described as a historic shift in political alignment among indigenous voters. He warmly welcomed the new entrants into the party, extending congratulations and gratitude to them for reposing their trust in the BJP.

He stated that although the realization may have come a little late, tribal communities have now understood that only the BJP, guided by the principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, can ensure inclusive development up to the last person in society, irrespective of caste or community. According to the Chief Minister, the BJP government is committed to the genuine and long-term development of tribal people, and the party’s vision will lay a strong foundation for Tripura’s progress for generations to come.

Using a symbolic metaphor, Dr. Saha said that by sowing the seeds of the lotus flower among all tribal communities, the BJP would ensure the bloom of the party across Tripura and strengthen its base for hundreds of years.

Launching a sharp attack on the CPI(M), the Chief Minister alleged that the Left party had historically misled tribal voters to win the 20 reserved Assembly seats but failed to deliver on promises after elections. He claimed that the CPI(M) used to declare victory in these 20 seats even before vote counting began, without undertaking meaningful development work for tribal areas.

“Those days are over,” Dr. Saha said, reiterating that from now on, the BJP’s seat tally would naturally begin with the 20 tribal-reserved Assembly seats. He once again expressed confidence that all 28 ADC seats would also go in favour of the BJP, paving the way for a strong and stable government in the autonomous council.

The Chief Minister’s remarks signal the BJP’s aggressive political push in tribal-dominated regions ahead of upcoming elections, with a clear focus on consolidating indigenous support across Tripura.
