The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has issued a strict directive to all Internet Service Providers (ISPs), including major operators such as Jio, Airtel, Vodafone and Aircel, along with local cable operators, instructing them to remove their cables from several stretches of the city within three days from the publication of the notice.

The order comes as AMC prepares to remove all unused poles belonging to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) across specific routes in Agartala for smart city development works.

According to the Municipal Commissioner, these poles are no longer in service and are obstructing various development projects undertaken by different departments of the Government of Tripura.

The affected stretches include: TRTC to BK Chowmuhani, BK Chowmuhani to RMS Chowmuhani, BK Chowmuhani to Colonel Chowmuhani, Post Office Chowmuhani to Netaji Chowmuhani, Jackson Gate to Lions Gate, Battala to Dashamighat Ghat, Jackson Gate to Bank Chowmuhani, Gonaraj Chowmuhani to Purbassa, Math Chowmuhani to MBB College and Bodhjung School to Power House.

AMC has warned that if operators fail to comply within the stipulated timeframe, the corporation itself will remove the cables and poles starting from the fourth day since November 6. In such cases, AMC will not be responsible for any damage or service disruptions faced by the operators or consumers.

The notice, signed by the Municipal Commissioner, reinforces AMC’s focus on ensuring uninterrupted progress of civic development initiatives and maintaining orderly infrastructure across Agartala.
