Bhavan’s Tripura Vidyamandir, Narsingarh, Unveils Stargazer Telescope to Ignite Students Passion for Astronomy

In a visionary step toward promoting scientific temperament among students, Bhavan’s Tripura Vidyamandir (BTVM), Narsingarh, inaugurated its much-awaited Stargazer Telescope on Tuesday. The initiative aims to foster curiosity, encourage space-science learning, and offer young minds a rare opportunity to explore the mysteries of the night sky.
The inaugural ceremony was enriched by the presence of eminent guests Shri Manas Paul, Executive Director of Tripura Times; Dr. Ayan Saha, Officer-in-Charge of Udaipur Science Centre and Shri Biplab Debnath, Panchayat Pradhan of Narsingarh Panchayat. Their participation added significance to what the school described as a milestone moment in its scientific journey.
Held at 5:00 PM on the BTVM campus, the event allowed students to Grab the Chance, Gaze the Stars as they observed the Cold Moon through the newly installed telescope, marking the first official celestial viewing at the institution.
Principal Smt. Swapna Shome expressed great pride, stating that the telescope will open new horizons for students and nurture a deeper love for astronomy and scientific exploration. She reaffirmed the school’s commitment to providing advanced, experience-based learning opportunities beyond conventional classrooms.
Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Agartala Kendra, and former IFS officer Shri Debashis Chakraborty was also present on the occasion. In his address, he emphasized the importance of space research awareness and highlighted how practical engagement with tools like telescopes can significantly enhance students’ scientific understanding.
The launch of the Stargazer Telescope stands as a major stride in promoting hands-on science education in Tripura. With this addition, the school hopes to accelerate scientific practice and inspire a new generation of budding astronomers in the state.
