The Society for Tripura Medical College & Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Teaching Hospital has strongly denied allegations of corruption, malpractice and manipulation of examination related penalties that appeared in a local daily recently. The report, accused senior officials and faculty members of Tripura Medical College (TMC) of involvement in financial irregularities linked to year-back and supplementary examinations.
In an official press release, the institution stated that the claims were grossly distorted, misrepresented, or completely overturned to the point of being a ridiculous imitation of reality. It said the contents of the news item had been thoroughly examined and were found to have no factual basis.
The college clarified that theoretical examinations of medical students are conducted entirely by Tripura Central University, and TMC has no role in the conduct or evaluation of such examinations. It further added that all monetary transactions, including year-back and supplementary examination fees, are processed online with proper receipts, leaving no scope for misappropriation, fee manipulation, or other corrupt practices as alleged.
Terming the news report as highly misleading and purpose-driven, the institution accused the publication of attempting to malign the reputation of respected officials and harming the credibility of the college. The press release described the report as a glaring example of yellow journalism where a pack of lies is served as news.
TMC warned that such baseless reporting could adversely affect students, faculty members, and the institution’s public image, leading the general public to develop an erroneous impression about the sanctity of TMC.
The institution urged readers not to be misguided by unfounded allegations and reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency, integrity, and academic discipline.
