Nominally existent Trinamool Congress in Tripura trying to cause mischief in the name of notional SIR

The Trinamool Congress which has just a skeletal presence in Tripura has launched a mischievous drive to mislead and confuse people in the name of Special Intensive Revision (SRI) of electoral rolls , currently on in lawless West Bengal. Toeing the party’s anti-national line in West Bengal for vote bank based on Bangladeshi infiltrator termites and terroristic Rohingiyas , the Tripura Trinamool leadership have falsely accused the BJP workers and supporters of harassing people by asking for valid official documents as proof of their permanent residency and citizenship in the state.

Trinamool’s state president Santanu Saha who made the allegation to media today tried to undertake a two hour sit-in programme below the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Agartala’s circuit house area. Sources in Trinamool said that permission for the programme had been sought from police but the police authority did not communicate with them. Reposing faith in the principle of ‘Silence Means Consent’ (!) a rag-tag group of Trinamool workers this morning tried to reach the Circuit House area by marching from the Swami Vivekananda ground-formerly known as ‘Astabol’ ground-but the police cut short the march of Trinamool. In protest the rag-tag group , reportedly gathered with monetary inducements, sat down on the road and started slogan-shouting before being dispersed. While leaving the place the Trinamool president Santanu Saha and his acolytes vainly threatened that in case the name one genuine voter is deleted as part of SIR they will launch protest.

Responding to Trinamool’s attempted programme today a leader of the BJP described the party in Tripura as ‘a group of mischief makers , devoid of any sense of law and constitution and engaged in efforts to woo anti-national elements like the infiltrators and Rohingiyas’. “These people should properly study the Articles 324 and 326 of the constitution and provisions of the Representation of Peoples Act-1951 before attacking the election commission and the SIR process which was done at least thirteen times in the past” said the BJP leader. He described as ‘absolutely and totally baseless’, allegations of Trinamool that the BJP is trying to harass people in the name of SIR because the process is yet to be announced for Tripura.
