The Tipra Motha party is making full preparations to make a grand success of its rally scheduled to come off on the Swami Vivekananda ground in Agartala on November 27-that is next Thursday at 11-00 AM. A number of like-minded leaders from Sikkim , Nagaland, Bodo Land in Assam and the Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma are expected to arrive here to attend and address the rally . However the main attraction for the tribal masses who will come in large numbers will be speech of party supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarman. Sources in Tipra Motha said that Pradyot Kishore will stage a show of strength of his party with only four months left before the next ADC election scheduled to come off in April next year. As part of his preparation for the show of strength Pradyot Kishore has recently attended a conclave of tribal leaders in Shillong and was instrumental in forming a forum under the banner of ‘Ek Bharat, Ek Northeast’ ostensibly to fight for tribal rights in the region.

As part of the preparation for the rally and shore up strength Tipra Motha workers and supporters organised a long motor bike rally today from Lembucherra to Raj Chantai across tribal dominated areas of Sadar (north) and parts of Mohanpur and Jirania subdivisions. The bike rally sponsored by Tipra Motha’s executive member of ADC (PWD) Runiel Debbarma, party’s block president Dipak Debbarma and youth wing leader Prashanta Debbarma moved from Sipahi Para (Lembu Cherra) through Patni , Banikya Chaumuhuni up to Raj Chantai . Runiel Debbarma gave a message to the party workers and leaders asking them to create awareness among tribal masses about the rally on November 27 and ensure their spontaneous participation.

Meanwhile, the Tribal Student Federation (TSF) organised a sit-in programme in Circuit House area of Agartala to protest the failure of the state government to introduce Roman Script for the tribal ‘Kokmborok’ language. The TSF leader John Debbarma said that his organisation had been assured by the chief minister Dr Manik Saha earlier that the demand would be fulfilled but this has not yet happened and that is why they are organising the sit-in programme as a mark of protest.
