A series of arms-related incidents across Tripura on Sunday night and Monday has sparked heightened security vigilance among law-enforcement agencies, with multiple arrests and weapon seizures reported from Kailashahar, Sonamura, and Agartala’s Amtali Bypass area.
Regarding the
Four Youths Detained With Firearms in Kailashahar’s Tilakpur, police sources said that in Kailashahar late Sunday night after residents spotted four youths behaving suspiciously near Unakoti Hospital while allegedly carrying firearms. The individuals, identified as Dilwar Hossain, Arsad Ali, Suhel Mia, and Asraf Ali
were quickly surrounded by locals.
Fire & Emergency Services personnel, along with Kailashahar Police, reached the spot before the situation escalated further. The four youths, who had sustained injuries after being confronted by the crowd, were rescued from the mob and taken to Unakoti District Hospital.
Police recovered two firearms, suspected to be air guns pending forensic verification. Officer-in-Charge Tapas Malakar said that an inquiry is in progress and surveillance in the surrounding areas has been intensified to ensure no larger threat is connected to the incident.
In a separate development, Sonamura Police arrested alleged arms dealer Sadeq Mia during a targeted operation. The arrest has raised further concerns over illegal gun circulation in the region. Officials confirmed that intensive interrogation is underway to determine the extent of Mia’s involvement in arms distribution and to identify any potential link to wider illegal networks operating within or outside Tripura.
Another major breakthrough came when Arundhutinagar Police detained three youths near the Amtali Bypass–Bangeswar Bridge area. Officers recovered two pistols and four magazines from their possession.
Preliminary investigation suggests that one of the accused had traveled from Bihar earlier in the day and allegedly brought the pistols by train. West District Police have launched a detailed probe to uncover the motive behind the transport of these weapons and to trace any interstate trafficking connections.
The series of arrests and recoveries has prompted Tripura Police to increase patrols, intensify vehicle checks, and enhance intelligence surveillance across vulnerable zones, as authorities work to dismantle the growing nexus of illegal arms movement in the state.
