Brutal Attack on Class II Student While Returning from School: Child Killed, Mother Critically Injured, Massive Public Protest Erupts

A shocking incident has triggered widespread outrage in the North District after a Class II student was brutally hacked to death and his mother severely injured while returning home from school on a scooter. The incident took place in the Chorai Bari–Nadiyapur Arjuntilla area on Friday afternoon.

According to local sources, the child and his mother were on their way home when the assailants attacked them with sharp weapons. The boy died on the spot due to grievous injuries, while his mother was rushed to the Silchar hospital in a critical condition.

The child's father is reportedly serving in the Indian Army. However, locals allege that long-standing marital disputes between the parents may be linked to the attack. Police have not yet confirmed any motive.

Tension escalated further when the hospital authorities allegedly delayed the post-mortem even after 4 PM, prompting enraged locals to surround the hospital and stage a protest.

Public anger intensified in Shanichara, where residents blocked the National Highway demanding immediate arrest of the culprits. Demonstrators claim it was a planned murder and expressed deep dissatisfaction over the police’s silence and inaction.

The situation remains tense as the demand for swift justice grows across the region. Police have increased security in the area and assured that a thorough investigation is underway.
