In a sharp rebuttal to TIPRA Motha minister Animesh Debbarma’s recent comments on Tripura’s law and order situation, senior BJP leader Subal Bhowmik on Saturday termed the minister’s statement 'childish' and politically motivated.

Animesh Debbarma had reportedly claimed yesterday that if the Home portfolio were handed to a minister from TIPRA Motha, law and order in the state could be restored to normal within three months. He alleged that there is no rule of law in Tripura and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has failed to manage the Home Department effectively.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP state headquarters in Krishnanagar, Agartala, Subal Bhowmik strongly refuted the allegations, asserting that law and order in Tripura remains stable. He acknowledged isolated attempts to disturb peace in the state but maintained that the administration has taken legal action against those involved.

However, when asked about alleged unrest during a TIPRA Motha-led agitation in Khumulwng, where protesters reportedly confined police personnel inside a police station, Bhowmik avoided a direct response, instead criticizing the incident as a continuation of CPM-style political culture.

During the press briefing, Bhowmik also extended gratitude to the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers following Transport and Food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury’s recent announcement that the cabinet has approved recruitment of 400 new personnel. He stated that the BJP government is moving forward with the principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.

On the issue of alleged attacks on BJP workers by TIPRA Motha supporters in various parts of the state, Bhowmik condemned incidents including arson at party offices and assaults on party workers in Khumulwng. Yet, he again described these as isolated incidents and said police are taking appropriate legal measures against the offenders.
