Extra-marital : married booth president elopes with another married woman , leaving behind wife and two children

The information revolution and easier contacts among people aided by mobiles have triggered outbreak of another major problem-moral turpitude and extra-marital affairs leading to elopements and destruction of family lives. The point is illustrated by the latest depredation of a BJP booth president in Rishipara area of Kanchanmala under Golaghati assembly constituency.

Sources from Kanchanmala said that Vikash Rishidas,a long time president of BJP in booth no-11 under the Golaghati assembly constituency, had been happily married to Malati Moni Das of a nearby area. The couple have two children and apparently there was no conjugal discord in their family. But a few months ago Vikash had developed an illicit relation with another housewife Ratna Rishidas of Ananda Nagar area. His wife had realised the matter and tried hard to dissuade her husband from going ahead with the affair but Vikash remained adamant and continued his illicit liaison.

Finally on November 21 Vikash was found missing from home and his wife Malati Moni failed to contact him over mobile phone as it was found switched off . Malati Moni brought the matter to her neigbours and parents and a search operation was launched , helped by the local BJP leaders and workers but Vikash and Ratna could not be traced. After a daylong futile search Malati Moni reached the Amtoli police station and filed a FIR against her husband and the police have assured her of tracing out Vikash and Ratna soon. The incident of elopement has sparked a furore in the entire Kanchanmala area and the local BJP leaders are deeply embarrassed over the incident . Sources said that a decision to expel Vikash from the party will be taken soon after the matter is reported to the party headquarter at Agartala.
