The Tripura Road Transport Corporation (TRTC) had once been known as a model of efficiency and people-friendly service after it had been launched in early seventies during the Congress government under late Sukhamay Sengupta as chief minister. But the advent of the left front government and depredation of CPI (M)’s labour front ,the CITU worsened by poor administration and corruption had sounded the death knell of this Corporation long back. But still a skeletal service of TSTC is available in certain parts of the state and Kailasahar was one of them.

But due to lack of any official care in the form of repair and renovation the TRTC building in Kailasahar is now on the verge of collapse and services have remained stalled causing immense suffering to the people and commuters. Sources said that TRTC building in Kailasahar had started functioning in the year 1988 at the initiative of Birajit Sinha but over the past 37 years this building has never been repaired or renovated and now it is on the verge of collapse.

Besides, the TRTC’s daily bus service between Kailasahar and Dharma Nagar has remained suspended over the past twelve days while the service with Kumarghat has remained suspended over the past week. This has been causing immense suffering to the passengers who travel on these routes as they are now compelled to commute at much higher than normal fare on private vehicles. The four big and small buses that the TRTC in Kailasahar would ply on Dharma Nagar and Kumarghat routes are all stranded in front of the office because they have gone out of order but there is no body to have the buses repaired for resumption of service.

Sources said the TRTC office in charge in Kailasahar Krishna Chandra Debbarma has long been on leave because of health problems and there is virtually no body to take care of the problems. The TRTC in Kailasahar has necessary buses and all other necessary things to continue service but there is no one in the administration to resolve the problems and the people in general , specially the commuters are the worst sufferers.
