After the pro-CPI (M) Tripura Employees Co-ordination Committee (TECC), the state unit of ‘Rashtrawadi Karmachari Sangha’ has come out in the open with a fourteen point charter of demands of all the employees. With the declaration in principle by Centre about constituting the 8th finance commission and the deadline for submission of accounts of expenses on payment of dearness allowance and dearness relief to incumbent employees and pensioners all set to end on November 30 after a one month extension for reimbursement by the 16th finance commission, the employees and pensioners have become restive . Already the gap in DA and DR payment to employees between centre and state has reached 22% again and unless the gap is reduced before November 30 by sanctioning a new installment the pending DA and DR will be lost for ever and the 16th finance commission will never reimburse this.
Keeping this in view a delegation of pro-BJP ‘Rashtrawadi Karmachari Sangha’ met in deputation with the finance minister Pranjit Singharoy yesterday in the latter’s chamber in the state secretariat. The delegation comprised president of the out Dipon Bhowmik, general secretary Sanjay Sutradhar, vice president Shibu Ranjan Bhowmik, office secretary Dulal Majumder and treasurer Pradip Debnath. They explained to the finance minister the fourteen point charter of demands that include sanction of pending 22% of DA before the expiry of the deadline on November , forming a full-fledged pay commission for upgradation of pay and allowances of t he employees and pensioners, upgradation of house rent , medical allowance etc and regularization in service of all casual , contingent and DRW employees.
The finance minister Pranjit Singharoy agreed in principle to all the demands raised by the delegation of ‘Rashtrawadi Karmachari Sangha’ but pointed out the constraints of financial resources at the disposal of the state government in the Indian constitutional scheme of division of power. However he assured the delegation that he will discuss all their demands at the cabinet level and take an appropriate decision to fulfill as many demands as possible , specially the demand for pending DA and DR. The office bearers of the ‘Karmachari Sangha’ later expressed their satisfaction over the discussion with the finance minister.
