Tripura Forest Dept. Shines at 28th All India Forest Sports Meet, Wins 12 Medals, Aman Hossain Won GOLD in Swimming

The Tripura Forest Department delivered an outstanding performance at the 28th All India Forest Sports Meet held in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, securing a total of 12 medals and earning wide appreciation across the state. The medal tally of 3 Gold, 4 Silver, and 5 Bronze marks one of Tripura’s strongest national sports achievements in recent years.
According to an official spokesperson, Tripura displayed remarkable competitiveness in three major events out of the eight conducted at the meet, reflecting the dedication, resilience, and sporting spirit of the state’s foresters. Tripura achieved the 17th overall rank among more than 35 participating States and Union Territories, reaffirming the state’s growing presence in the national forest sports arena. The Forest Department expressed heartfelt gratitude to Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma, Head of Forest Force (HOFF) RK Samal, IFS, and all senior officers for their continuous encouragement and support, while Shri PL Agrawal, PCCF, CEO & PD, Tripura JICA (SCATFORM), also conveyed appreciation for the collective effort behind the department’s success. The medal winners who made Tripura proud include Deependra Jewaria with 1 Gold and 1 Bronze, Aman Hossain with 2 Gold and 3 Silver, Hossain Mia Poddar with 1 Silver and 1 Bronze, Sanjay Majumder with 2 Bronze, and Biswajit Debbarma along with Biswanath Gurung who secured 1 Bronze. Among the standout achievers, Aman Hossain’s Gold medal in swimming received the highest praise, showcasing the department’s growing strength in diverse sports disciplines.
The spokesperson noted that these accomplishments highlight Tripura’s rising prominence at the All India Forest Sports Meet and reflect the discipline, dedication, and passion of the state’s forest personnel. Introduced in 1993 in Hyderabad, the All India Forest Sports Meet (AIFSM) aims to promote fitness, teamwork, and camaraderie among forest officials across the country, with competitions covering track and field, archery, swimming, rifle shooting, and various indoor and outdoor sports. Hosted annually in different states, the event brings together participants from across India, fostering athletic excellence and knowledge exchange. The 28th edition in Dehradun benefitted from the city’s strong sporting infrastructure, ensuring a smooth and successful national-level meet. Tripura proudly celebrates its forest athletes and swimmers for their dedication, remarkable achievements, and the honour they have brought to the state.
