The ruling BJP has taken a special initiative to ensure proper development of tribal dominated interior areas of the state. At the organizational level the intiative taken to strengthen the party’s base among the indigenous people is also being backed by the state government. As part of this the minister for tribal welfare Bikash Debbarma today paid a long visit to the remote Haludia Baglai village under Mungiakami bock under the Teliamura subdivision.

Nestled in the foothills of the Atharomura ranges Haludia Baglai village has been deprived of all fruits of development over the past many years. When Bikash Debbarma reached the spot on foot , accompanied by officials and local party leaders, keeping his vehicle behind he was thronged by the residents of the village, young and old. The villagers raised vital issues that have been standing in the way of progress and development of the village. They pointed out that even basic amenities for living like education, health, roads, water supply have not reached the village over the past seven decades. Someone pointed out absence of drinking water facility while others pointed out lack of any road which retards the students from going to school and a host of other problems.

The minister Bikash Debbarma gave the villagers a patient hearing and got all the grievances of people recorded by the official accompanying them. He also assured the villagers that all their demands will be fulfilled in a phased manner. “Whatever you have brought to my notice is legitimate, these things should have been done much earlier but from now on I will take a major initiative to fulfill your demands; our government is for the people and we will do everything to fulfill peoples demands but give me some time ‘ you know very well that what has not been done over the past eight decades can not be done overnight; rest assured of my efforts to ensure your development” Bikash told the people of Haludia Baglai.
