Tripura University Cancels Scheduled ‘One Day Conclave on One North East’, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma Expresses Disappointment

Tripura University has officially cancelled the programme titled 'One Day Conclave on One North East', which was scheduled to be held on November 19, 2025 at the MBB Auditorium of the University. The cancellation was announced through a notification issued by the Registrar (i/c), citing unavoidable circumstances.

The notification, issued with the approval of the Competent Authority of Tripura University, stated that the earlier circular dated November 14, 2025, notifying the event, now stands withdrawn. Copies of the notice have been circulated to key university officials, including the Dean of Faculty, Controller of Examinations, Librarian, and Heads of Departments.

Reacting to the sudden cancellation, Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, who was scheduled to attend the programme, expressed his disappointment through a post on his official Facebook page.

Pradyot wrote that he had been invited to deliver an address at Tripura Central University, but he was informed of the programme’s cancellation at the last moment. Despite the abrupt change, he shared an optimistic message:

“I was scheduled to attend a program at Tripura Central University, but I was informed of its cancellation at the last minute. I remain hopeful that I was meant to engage with students and faculty members. I trust that the authorities will provide me with another opportunity to interact with the students in the future.”

His message reflects both his disappointment and his continued willingness to participate in academic interactions with the youth of Tripura.

No further clarification has been issued by the University regarding the specific reasons behind the cancellation.
