Assembly of Journalists (AOJ) organizes discussion and opinion exchange session titled "Journalism in the Current Context" on January 28.The session aims to address challenges faced by journalists in the changing landscape, their professional responsibilities, dignity enhancement, and overall improvement of the profession. The AOJ has initiated this event to ensure that the younger generation of media professionals benefits from the experiences of senior journalists. In a press conference held at the Agartala Press Club on Tuesday, the General Secretary of AOJ, Sanit Debroy, highlighted the organization’s focus on the safety and professional development of journalists and media workers in the state. He mentioned that workshops involving experts from other states, organized with government assistance, have been commendable. However, he emphasized that journalism varies greatly by region, and guidance for the younger generation must come from those experienced in Tripura’s unique context. The event invites editors and journalists from newspapers, TV channels, and web portals to participate and share their perspectives.Mr. Debroy noted that in recent years, two journalists were murdered in the state, many were injured, and media offices were attacked, putting independent journalism at risk. While the situation has improved, ensuring 100% safety, growth, and professional enhancement for media workers remains a challenge. This session aims to facilitate an open discussion on these issues. The press conference was attended by AOJ Vice President Dibakar Debnath, Secretary Dr. Bishwendu Bhattacharjee, Jayanta Debnath, Uttam Chakraborty, and executive members Prateek Mohanlal Biswas, Abhijit Ghosh, Prasenjit Bhattacharjee, Subrata Ghosh, and Manish Acharya.
