Unrest and confusion have gripped parts of Unakoti and North Tripura districts after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) reportedly conducted sudden raids at the homes of two ordinary residents, a street vendor and a salon owner.
According to local sources, the NIA team visited the residence of Paritosh Shil, a salon owner from Dhanbilash village in Kailashahar, and directed him to appear in Ahmedabad on November 20 for further questioning. No incriminating materials were reportedly found during the search.
In a similar incident, another NIA team carried out a raid at the house of Ranu Pal, a street vendor from Nidevi area under Kumarghat subdivision. His mobile phone was seized for investigation, though nothing suspicious was discovered from the premises.
These incidents have triggered widespread discussions in the localities, with many questioning the reason behind targeting such ordinary and law-abiding individuals. Residents have expressed concern over the suddenness of the raids and the absence of any clear explanation from officials.
Local social circles and community leaders have urged authorities to clarify the motive behind these actions to prevent unnecessary panic among the public.
