A wave of nostalgia swept through the campus of Jolaibari H.S. (10+2) School in South Tripura as the institution celebrated its Annual Prize Distribution, Teacher-Guardian Meet, and Cultural Function with grandeur and emotion. The event, held at 11:00 a.m. in the school’s cultural hall, witnessed overwhelming participation from students, teachers, guardians, respected local citizens, and a large number of former students and faculty members who gathered to relive cherished memories of their alma mater.
Established on March 1, 1951, Jolaibari H.S. (10+2) School stands as one of Tripura’s oldest and most reputed educational institutions. The school was founded in the aftermath of India’s Partition, when a large number of displaced Hindu families migrated to Tripura. Determined to ensure education for their children, the refugee community took the initiative to establish this institution through collective effort and sacrifice. In its formative years, the students were primarily children of refugees, while the teachers were educated individuals among the displaced population.
Over the past seven decades, the school has produced thousands of accomplished students who have gone on to establish themselves across India and abroad in various professions, making the institution a proud symbol of resilience, learning, and progress.
The day’s event was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Mr. Sukla Charan Noatia, Minister, Government of Tripura, Justice SC Das (retired), Dr. Nilratan Majumder, Dr. Gautam Majumder, Mr. Sambhu Manik, and Mr. Tapas Datta, along with many other notable personalities. Each guest delivered an inspiring address highlighting the significance of education, moral values, and the role of schools in shaping responsible citizens.
In his address, the Headmaster of the school, Mr. Dipak Roy, presented a detailed report on the school’s performance, achievements, and academic progress. He also outlined certain challenges being faced by the institution and appealed for continued cooperation from the government and the community to overcome them and enhance the learning environment.
The cultural segment of the function was one of the highlights of the day, featuring music, dance, and drama performances by students that reflected the rich cultural heritage of Tripura. The event rekindled fond memories among former students and teachers, many of whom recalled their school days with deep emotion and pride.
The Annual Function at Jolaibari H.S. (10+2) School not only celebrated academic and cultural excellence but also served as a heartwarming reunion that strengthened the bond among the institution’s present and past generations, a true testament to the school’s legacy of education, community, and shared values.
