Govt prioritising socio-economic upliftment of Janajatis: Tripura CM

Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday said the Tripura government has placed top priority on the socio-economic and educational development of Janajati communities in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for inclusive growth.
Speaking at a felicitation ceremony organised by the Maharani Tulsibati Welfare Trust on the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, Saha said several initiatives have been launched to strengthen education, healthcare, and infrastructure in tribal areas.He said over Rs 23 crore has been spent under the Pradhan Mantri Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana, benefiting more than 9,300 people. The government has sanctioned Rs 19 crore for installing solar systems in 50 hostels and initiated the recruitment of 170 wardens in Janajati hostels across the state.
The Chief Minister said financial assistance is being provided to Janajati students pursuing higher education outside Tripura, along with support for jute farmers under various schemes.Highlighting the growing representation of Janajatis in civil and police services, Saha said the government is also intensifying efforts to curb drug abuse and raise awareness about HIV/AIDS.
Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, MP Rajib Bhattacharya, and senior officials were present at the event.
