Minor girl from Tripura rescued from Nepal after 20 days

A 17-year-old girl from Sabroom in South Tripura district, who had gone missing for nearly three weeks, was rescued from Nepal and reunited with her family on Sunday following a joint operation by Tripura and Assam Police.

Police said the girl, a resident of Sadasing Para, had eloped with a man identified as Krishna Thakur of Himachal Pradesh, whom she met on social media. The accused allegedly lured her with a promise of marriage and took her to Nepal via Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.Superintendent of Police (South Tripura) Mourya Krishna C said the accused was detained in Assam’s Kokrajhar district, while the girl was rescued from Nepal with help from the accused’s stepfamily.

The victim’s father thanked the police for their efforts, saying his daughter was safely brought home after 20 days of distress.Police have registered a case of abduction.
